At the 2025 Monterey Car Week, RM Sotheby’s sold a Ferrari Daytona SP3 “599+1” Tailor Made for $26 million, with proceeds donated to the Ferrari Foundation to fund educational projects in the United States. Configured with exposed carbon fiber and Giallo Modena accents, this one-off marks the first time Ferrari has applied its prancing horse emblem as a full wraparound livery. The record-setting result reflects Ferrari’s ongoing tradition of charity auctions, which over the past ten years have included unique examples of the LaFerrari, LaFerrari Aperta, and 812 Competizione, reinforcing Maranello’s identity as both a symbol of technical excellence and social responsibility.

Monterey 2025: Ferrari Daytona SP3 “599+1” – A Tailor Made Masterpiece for Charity

During Monterey Car Week 2025, RM Sotheby’s hosted one of the most remarkable Ferrari charity auctions to date: a Ferrari Daytona SP3 Tailor Made “599+1”, built as an additional unit beyond the strictly limited 599-car production run.

The car sold for $26 million, with the entire proceeds benefitting the Ferrari Foundation, which supports educational initiatives, including the rebuilding of the Aveson Charter School in Altadena, California, destroyed by fire.

Configured through the Tailor Made program, the SP3 “599+1” features a distinctive livery combining exposed carbon fiber with Giallo Modena highlights. As highlighted by RM Sotheby’s in A Class of Its Own, this is the first Ferrari to wear the Prancing Horse emblem as a full-length livery from bumper to bumper, turning the SP3 into a rolling piece of art. A dedicated interior plaque designates it as “599+1”, confirming its official status as a one-off beyond the limited production run.

Technical DNA and the Icona Series

Unveiled in 2021, the Daytona SP3 belongs to Ferrari’s Icona series, a family of models inspired by legendary 1960s Ferrari Sport Prototypes and reimagined with contemporary design and technology.

Powered by the 6.5-liter naturally aspirated V12 (F140HB) from the 812 Competizione, it delivers 840 hp at 9,500 rpm. Performance figures are outstanding: 0–100 km/h in 2.85 seconds, 0–200 km/h in 7.4 seconds, and a top speed of over 340 km/h. The “599+1” model not only elevates the Daytona SP3’s collectability but also transforms it into a symbol of Ferrari’s commitment to philanthropy.

Ten Years of Ferrari Charity Auctions

The Monterey result continues a tradition Ferrari has developed over the past decade, offering unique cars at charity auctions to raise millions for humanitarian and educational causes:

  • 2015 – Cavalcade Rome: Ferrari memorabilia auction raised over €200,000 for the restoration of Rome’s Trajan Markets.

  • 2016 – Finali Mondiali, Daytona: a LaFerrari (500th car, unique tricolore livery) sold for $7,000,000 to support victims of the Central Italy earthquake.

  • 2017 – Ferrari 70th Anniversary, Fiorano: a LaFerrari Aperta (210th car, Rosso Fuoco one-off) sold for €8,300,000 to Save the Children, setting a record for a 21st-century car sold at auction.

  • 2018 – Enzo Ferrari Museum, Modena: a F12tdF “120th Anniversary” pre-series prototype auctioned to support neuromuscular research at the Dino Ferrari Center.

  • 2023 – Ferrari Gala, New York: a Tailor Made 812 Competizione, sold for $5,100,000, funding educational programs via the Ferrari Foundation.

  • 2025 – Monterey Car Week: the Daytona SP3 “599+1” Tailor Made, sold for $26,000,000, benefitting the Ferrari Foundation.

Impact on the Brand

Through these initiatives, Ferrari has strengthened its image not only as a manufacturer of the world’s most coveted cars, but also as a responsible social actor. Each auction generates global resonance, merging exclusivity and generosity, and underlining Ferrari’s leadership in both innovation and ethical responsibility.

The creation of the Ferrari Foundation has institutionalized this commitment, focusing on education and community development. The Daytona SP3 “599+1” is both a record-setting auction result and a statement of Ferrari’s ability to transform exclusivity into meaningful impact.

The sale of the Daytona SP3 Tailor Made “599+1” at Monterey is not just a collectors’ milestone, but a moment where heritage, innovation, and philanthropy converge. Ferrari proves that the myth of Maranello transcends performance and design, embodying also a vision of shared values and social responsibility.
