With the 849 Testarossa, Ferrari brings back one of its most evocative names. Forty years after the celebrated Pininfarina-styled V12 coupé, Maranello has relaunched the iconic badge on a new mid-engined berlinetta, revealed in September 2025 in Milan. The car takes its place at the very top of Ferrari’s regular production, replacing the SF90 Stradale and raising the performance benchmark even higher.
The styling, under Flavio Manzoni, merges sharp, geometric lines with functional solutions inspired by 1970s sports prototypes. The twin-tail rear recalls the 512 S, while the deeply sculpted side intakes reinterpret the slatted “gills” of the 1980s Testarossa. Every element serves a purpose: the active rear spoiler produces up to 415 kg of downforce at 250 km/h, the 20-inch turbine-style wheels extract hot air from the brakes, and the flat underbody integrates vortex generators for stability and cooling.
The cabin balances minimalist design with luxury. A new central “sail” console houses a metal open-gate gear selector, a nod to Ferrari’s classic manual grids, while the steering wheel reinstates physical controls in place of the touch-sensitive layout introduced on the SF90. A new digital cluster offers clearer information, complemented by connected features such as MyFerrari Connect and wireless smartphone charging. Premium materials—leather, Alcantara, carbon fiber—create an essential yet refined driver-focused environment.
At its heart lies a 3.9-liter twin-turbo V8, heavily reworked to deliver 830 CV on its own, combined with three electric motors for a total of 1,050 CV. The 7.45 kWh battery provides about 25 km of electric-only range, allowing silent running when required. Performance figures are exceptional: 0–100 km/h in 2.25 seconds, top speed beyond 330 km/h, and a Fiorano lap time of 1’17”5, outpacing the SF90 and approaching the track-only XX models.
Chassis technology matches the power: magnetorheological dampers, carbon-ceramic brakes with the latest ABS Evo, and the new Ferrari Integrated Vehicle Estimator (FIVE), which creates a predictive digital twin of the car to anticipate reactions and keep dynamics under perfect control.
Production begins in 2026, with pricing set at €460,000 for the coupé and €500,000 for the Spider with retractable hard-top. Although not declared a limited series, output will remain constrained and demand is expected to be extremely strong. The 849 Testarossa thus becomes Ferrari’s new flagship, blending the memory of a legendary name with technology that projects Maranello into the future of high-performance hybrids.
