The SF90 Spider introduces a new paradigm for Ferrari: an open-top supercar that combines extreme performance, advanced hybrid technology and everyday usability.

Equipped with a 1000-horsepower PHEV powertrain, electric all-wheel drive and active aerodynamics, the SF90 Spider redefines the standard for high-performance convertibles.

It is not only a showcase of innovation but a true embodiment of Ferrari’s engineering mastery and passion for driving.

Technical architecture and hybrid powertrain

The Ferrari SF90 Spider is based on the same technical platform as the SF90 Stradale, but redesigned to integrate a retractable hard top (RHT) without compromising chassis rigidity or dynamic balance. At its core is a 4.0-liter twin-turbocharged V8 engine, producing 780 cv — the most powerful combustion engine ever fitted to a Ferrari road car.

This is complemented by three electric motors: two independent units on the front axle and one located between the engine and the gearbox. Combined, they deliver an additional 220 cv, for a total system output of 1000 cv. This architecture enables electric all-wheel drive (eAWD), allowing for exceptional traction and acceleration across all driving conditions.

A new 8-speed dual-clutch transmission has been developed, eliminating the mechanical reverse gear (replaced by the front electric motors) to save weight and space. A 7.9 kWh lithium-ion battery powers the electric motors and allows for up to 25 km of all-electric range in eDrive mode — ideal for city driving or zero-emission zones.

Performance, dynamics and active aerodynamics

Thanks to its hybrid layout and advanced traction systems, the SF90 Spider accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in just 2.5 seconds, reaches 200 km/h in 7.0 seconds, and exceeds 340 km/h at full speed. The integration of electric all-wheel drive — a first for a mid-engined Ferrari — ensures maximum power delivery and exceptional control in any condition.

Vehicle dynamics are managed by a sophisticated suite of electronic systems, including Ferrari eSSC (electronic Side Slip Control), Ferrari Dynamic Enhancer 2.0 and front axle torque vectoring. These systems work together in real time to deliver agility, predictability and driving precision, even at the limit.

Aerodynamic efficiency is enhanced by active elements such as the “Shut-off Gurney” system, which automatically adjusts rear downforce according to driving dynamics. Airflow management has been optimized to separately cool the V8 powertrain and electric components, maximizing both performance and reliability.

Design, ergonomics and human-machine interface

The design of the SF90 Spider remains faithful to the Stradale’s sharp proportions and purposeful lines, with the addition of a perfectly integrated retractable hard top. The aluminum roof opens or closes in just 14 seconds, even at speeds up to 45 km/h, offering versatility without disrupting the car’s aesthetic purity.

Inside the cockpit, Ferrari introduces a new driver-focused interface. A 16-inch curved high-definition digital display provides all critical driving data, while touch-sensitive controls on the steering wheel allow for intuitive access to functions. The eManettino selector enables the driver to choose between four hybrid driving modes: eDrive, Hybrid, Performance, and Qualify. The cockpit materials — carbon fiber, leather, and Alcantara — reflect Ferrari’s trademark mix of luxury and racing spirit.
